Use of Procedural Content Generation Methods
From an article on Far Cry 2 development:
So the team worked with World Machine to create their generic, yet oddly familiar section of Africa. World Machine allows developers to procedurally generate terrain based on what a developer wants to see in their world. The engine can even predict proper geological erosion allowing the developers to wear down an area with weather effects.
From a Far Cry 2 Hands-on Preview:
"If you notice, all enemies are different," he said. "You'll see this on console [too]. I wanted to create a system where every enemy would be different, but I had a hard time justifying the development of this. But since we have multipalyer, and we needed to create something for variety in multiplayer, we were able to use the same system."
