Avida is software in development at Michigan State University. This is an artificial life implementation similar to Core War where programs in an emulated environment compete for CPU and memory, but with random mutations which allow the programs to evolve.
Avida is inspired by Tierra, with differences: each program in Avida has its own protected memory that cannot be read or written by other agents; CPU time allocated is not equal, instead programs are rewarded for completing tasks
